President Lyndon B. Johnson Signs the Civil Rights Bill of 1968

Caption: President Lyndon B. Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act of 1968 on April 11, 1968. The act prohibited discrimination in the sale or rental of approximately 80 percent of the housing in the U.S. Newly elected Senator Edward Brooke of Massachusetts attended the signing.
