Women’s History Month 2013
For over forty years, the women of the Congressional Black Caucus have remained champions of the fight against inequality as it relates to women and other underrepresented groups. In the month of March, we celebrate Women’s History across the nation .Let’s take a moment to recognize the progress they have made. In 1968, Representative Shirley Chisholm a founding member of the CBC, was the first African- American woman elected to Congress. Today over 30 black women have followed in the footsteps of this pioneer and dedicated their lives to public service.
