We Remember Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Four days after Dr. King's assassination on April 4, 1968, members of the Congressional Black Caucus introduced a bill to federally observe the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King. For over fifteen years after the bill was introduced members of the Congressional Black Caucus and other civil rights leaders rallied across the United States in an effort to recognize the contributions of this human rights icon. The Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Exhibit highlights the legislative process and the tireless efforts made by members of the CBC that resulted in the passage of the Martin Luther King Holiday. This year marks 46 years since the death of Dr King, as we commemorate his life and legacy be sure to take a moment and learn more about this significant part of American history.
